Hey, I see your point about how readership is low, that every reader counts,
etc. etc. But telling me that I'm doing a disservice to fans everywhere by
NOT spending money on Dark Horse comics is ridiculous. This is as opposed to
the voting analogy, because voting does not cost money. If Dark Horse could
somehow give away their manga for free, and it would help the industry, I'd
accept it. However, I owned the Japanese manga well before I knew Dark Horse
even existed. Telling me I should go out and buy the Dark Horse version too
just to "support" that industry is just plain illogical. I am not telling
anybody not to buy the Dark Horse version. I'm just saying that I,
personally, would prefer to own the regular version, for many reasons, like
occassionally shoddy translations, questionable translation decisions
(Blessed Bell? Come on, Fujishima practically spelled it out for us...), and
skipped chapters. True, some of these have been "remedied", but I just prefer
to get the original tankouban and not deal with all of this.

In reference to your early question, by the way, English is my native
language, but Japanese is my second language. My name (Chang) may not make it
seem so, but my mother is a native Japanese speaker, and so I would like to
think that I am reasonably fluent in it.

Anyway, I don't have problems with anybody going out and buying Dark Horse
manga. If that is your personal decision, fine. I'll stick to my Japanese
manga. In a semi-related example, I own some Love Hina, and it's all raw
Japanese, not the bilingual version. I also would've preferred to get a
Mini-Goddess manga that was raw and not bilingual... translations like
"Ratty" for "nezumi-san" just grate on my nerves. But, like I said, the good
thing about a consumer industry is that consumers can choose where to spend
their money, and I have no problem with that at all.
