In Mainframe data processing it's called virtual pairs.  Interesting,
the author
thinks that Yggdrasil works under VM (IBM's "Virtual Machine" operating
system).
I wonder if he thinks Nidhog is VSE-OS (Virtual Storage Architecture)
and the Megami
system is MVS-OS (Multiple Virtual Systems).  Under VM you can run
multiple environments
within on Physical box.  Interesting concept in the computer world, if
you kick a real
computer you probably will break your foot, if you kick a virtual
computer you will only
end up with your foot in your mouth.  Under VM the virtual machines can
talk to each other
as if they were separate boxes, but they can share all resources and
kinda coexist over one
another.
