Chapter 116: Dr. Moro's Trap

This is "Humanity's Dream"

This chapter begins with a long shot of the building Dr. Moro's lab
is in.
Each frame takes us closer to his lab; first down a hall way, to his
door, until we
finally find him sitting in the shadow, against a wall, sulking.
Suddenly he gets up. And in a flurry of anger and frustration, begins
to throw his creations around the room,
like so much worthless trash. Dr. Moro's thoughts are filled with
visions of Robo,
who mocks all his hard work and effort by her very existence. He
rationalizes his
anger by proclaiming that this dream cannot be monopolized by any one
person
and he has the right to research Robo himself.
The scene cuts to the temple, where we find Banpei chasing Robo, as
always. In the middle of the chase, Robo comes to a stop, craning her
head as if
she were looking for something. Not finding anything readily, she
dismisses it as
a sensor error. Banpei takes this opportunity to sneak up behind her.
Unfortunately for him, Robo's spider sense tingles and she delivers a
backfist to
his face. She then proceeds to switch him off, commenting that he
really never
learns.
Nearby, in some bushes, though, is what Robo was detecting. Geared
up
in full camouflage, Dr. Moro watches Robo, and plots. Smiling that ol'
mad
scientist smile, he declares that he understands as he watches Robo and
Banpei
play. Then Bell comes up to him and serenely asks him what it his he
understands. This brings him to Robo's notice and she instinctively
fires off a
Rocket Punch. Unfortunately, it never reaches its target; it seems that
the launch
cartridge ran out. Dr. Moro takes this as his cue to leave. He
startles K1 as he
runs past him, and the first image K1 has of what ran by him is of a
"child-faced
old man-creature". At that, Dr. Moro rushes to his lab to with a gleam
in his eye
and a scheme in his mind.
The next day, Skuld finds an advertisement for a 540 motor for 258
yen
and 12 volt cooling fan for 525 yen. Ecstatic, Skuld speeds off on
Banpei leaving
Robo to watch the house. Robo is very glad to finally have some time to

relax, especially with Banpei out of the house. As Robo walks back into
the
temple, the scene cuts back to Dr. Moro watching her from a tree through

binoculars, saying that everything is going according to plan.
Robo is outside, doing some maintenance on her heel skates while
sitting
on the porch. In the middle of her business, a small robot whose body
is in the
form of building with the words "Black Silver(?)" written on it. It
proceeds to give
her a message. "Greetings. Your precious loved one has been captured.
You
will come to this place. Of course, you are free as to whether you come
or not.
But, if you don't come, your precious loved one will...", at which Robo
launches a
Rocket Punch, destroying the robot. A look of convictions comes across
Robo's
face as she declares such an act unforgivable. She cannot forgive that
someone
thinks that Banpei is her "precious loved one". Tough love, eh? With
that thought
driving her, she is off to rescue Banpei.
Quickly, she arrives at the building and finds what she's sure is
the room
Banpei's being held in. She also sees Dr. Moro walk by inattentively
from her
hiding spot behind a locker. Robo isn't surprised in the least that it
was Dr. Moro
who took Banpei. After he passes, she sees her chance to sneak into the
lab.
Once in the lab, none of her sensors pick up any data. Nothing on
infrared, sonar,
pressure senors, temperature, motion or radar.
But after enough sneaking around, she eventually happens upon
Banpei. (They're
movin' all over the place! ^_^) At first, she smiles and breathes a
sigh of relief.
Then she catches herself, andexplains to no one in particular that she
is only relieved
because Skuld herself wasn't captured. After a little ranting, she
realizes that this is
neither the time nor the place to be doing that; she has to rescue
Banpei. She motions
to Banpei to get up and she checks on how he's doing. But when she
lifts his
headpiece, she discovered that what she found was not really Banpei, but
a fake.
Then abruptly, the bogus Banpei moves and grabs Robo, trapping her.
While Robo screams and struggles against the trap, Dr. Moro steps out of
the
shadows, mocking Robo by saying she came to save her precious loved one
just
as he thought she would. In response to such a allegation, she tells
him that
Banpei isn't precious, her loved one, or any such thing and she fires a
Rocket
Punch at the doctor. He deftly sidesteps it and cuts the guide wire,
smirking at
little Robo. To allay Robo's surprise, he explains that she can't fire
unless she
shouts "Rocket Punch", making it easy to react to her attacks. In
response to that
postulation, Robo says she doesn't actually have to say anything and
proceeds to
nail him right in the face. Unfortunately, Dr. Moro simply grabs the
fist as it falls
away and cuts the other guide wire. The doctor approaches Robo,
exhilarated at
his chance to dissect and study the perfection in Robo's body.
Robo is down to her final choice. She doesn't want to have to use
it, but
she doesn't have much choice at this point. Robo screams at the top of
her voice,

"SAVE ME BANPEI!!!!!"
