Chapter 115: Can Humanity's Dream Be Lost?

The Dark Shadow Chasing the Beautiful Miss Robo to Complete Humanity's
Dream--Go! Go! Dr. Moro!!

At the beginning of this chapter, we find Dr. Moro at Whirlwind talking
to
Chihiro. She tries to avoid him by saying that she's closed up for the
day. He
accuses her of acting bratty, as usual. Eventually he convinces her to
listen to his
request. Dr. Moro is there to return the "C" rings he got from her becau
se he was
looking for "E" rings instead. Chihiro tells him she'll order them tomor
row. He
insists he gets them today. At that point, she realizes that K1 should
have some
"E" rings, since he's working on radio control stuff. So that the doctor
 can go ask
for some, she offers to draw him a map. The crazy ol' professor wants
her to go
get them for him.
In response to such an overreaching request, she begins to run down the
list of complaints she has about him. He couldn't even write his product
 order
legibly enough for her to tell he wanted "E" rings and he doesn't even
show up
during regular store hours. It seems the poor professor is lacking in
social skills.
After such a tumultuous tirade, he retreats his request for her to get
the rings for
him and agrees to go himself. She first makes sure he agrees to go get
them
today so she won't have to hear him complain later.
The scene now cuts to our favorite temple. K1 and the goddess are sitti
ng
around the table in an indisposed manner. Banpei in cycle form is chasin
g Robo,
who is in skate mode, all over the house. Urd, Skuld and K1 are barely
able to
withstand the commotion. Bell comments positively that the two seem to
get along
so well. The others don't quite see it that way. To them it's just the
same old
chases the two get into.
As it appears that Banpei will not give up pursuit, Robo decides to pull
 out
her last resort. There is a pregnant pause as Robo seems to suddenly dis
appear
from sight. Haltingly, K1 stirs. Though it draws attention to Robo, K1
calmly asks
her if she wouldn't mind getting off his head. The noise of her shushing
 K1
attracts the gaze of Banpei. For a few frames, he stares intently at Rob
o, who is
unresponsive until she realizes that he's staring up her skirt. At which
 point the
chase begins to go the other way.
Banpei leads us outside as he speeds away from Robo's assault of
embarrassment. Walking along the road outside the temple is Dr. Moro,
mumbling to himself about wanting to make things that walk. Just as he
comes in
front of the stairway leading to the temple, he stops, realizing he has
arrived.
When he gets to the top of the stairs, he encounters Banpei, who is keepi
ng an
eye out behind him for an attack from Robo. Dr. Moro falls to his knees
with
disbelief.
He cannot contain his disbelief at such a sight. It is as if all his
research
has been for nothing. In an effort to allay his depression, he proclaims
 that there
are still things to be done; there are still aspect of the "human dream"
to achieve.
Beyond the ability to walk, there are things like speech, running and lau
ghing with
emotion. The dream of creating an android which will fully simulate huma
n
beings still remains!
His boisterous monologue is interrupted by the shout of a battle cry in
the
distance. The voice of a young girl cries at the top of her lungs, "ROCK
ET
PUNCH!", and Banpei falls to the ground. Dr. Moro turns to see the sourc
e of the
assault and sees Robo, reloading her right arm. She has properly deliver
ed
retribution to Banpei. That task over with, she notices Dr. Moro. Happi
ly
surprised at the arrival of a guest, she greets him in her idiom, bowing
delicately
and saying, "I welcome you humbly." (irasshaimase ^_^)
Once again, Dr. Moro feels completely shot out of the saddle at the
appearance of what may be an android. Before thoroughly abandoning his
dream, he attempts to make certain that she is an android. Though his
methodology has validity, it is not generally approvable. The way he cho
oses to
authenticate her as an android, is to lift up her skirt and check for hum
an anatomy.
True to form, Robo is wholly insulted and delivers to Dr. Moro the same
punishment Banpei received for being a pervert. As he falls into
unconsciousness, the various attributes of the dream of an android float
to the
surface of his thoughts; speech, running, laughing with feeling, and with
 this
particular android, a rocket punch...
The unconscious body of Dr. Moro has been taken into the temple and is
being overseen by K1, Bell and Urd. Robo stands irately to the side.
Urd asks K1
who he is. He replies that this is a professor from his college. It is
Robo's opinion
that he's really just an ordinary pervert, to which K1 gives a confirming
 shrug.
Robo attests to her claim by displaying the manner in which the doctor
acted
perversely. The sight of Robo holding her skirt up causes K1 to blush
and Urd to
stare contemplatively. Robo slowly comes to the realization that she has

embarrassed herself and proceeds to "Eeek!" her head off.
Ignoring Robo, Urd asks what happened to Skuld. Bell answers that it
seems she's repairing him. Fed up with Robo's pointless screaming, Urd
smacks
her on the head with a fan and tells her to shut up. Urd thinks Robo's
overdoing it,
especially for such a thing having her skirt flipped up. To which Robo
responds,
"How about if it happened to you?" Urd gives her leave to do it anytime.
In the middle of their argument, Dr. Moro slowly begins to open his eyes
and regain consciousness. Right after Urd notices, he sits up with a sta
rt, sees
Urd, and continues with is last thought process by shouting, "Are you and
 android
as well?" and tries to check up Urd's skirt. This time he receives retri
bution in the
form of a firm rap on the head by Urd's fan. Having experienced Dr. Moro
's
perversion first hand, she agrees with Robo.
It seems that Dr. Moro has attempted to explain himself, but to no avail
..
There is no convincing Urd and Robo that he's no pervert, merely an enter
prising
scientist with a dream. Unable to dissuade them, Dr. Moro tries to prove
 his intent
through action. Pulling out a screwdriver and needle-nose plier, he reve
als his
desire to investigate, dissect and in general take Robo apart. Urd and
Robo run
as Dr. Moro begins his assault of science. Robo familiarly disappears
from sight,
to be found once again sitting on K1's head. When Dr. Moro finds her and
 begins
the chase anew, Urd realizes that she probably doesn't need to run.
Bell herself finally comes to interrupt Dr. Moro's pursuit of Robo. She
 asks
him why he's so intent on catching her. His response is that he intends
to fulfill
the "human dream", and that Robo is all he needs to do so to create an
android.
Bell tells the professor that he can not do that. Dr. Moro asks if there
 is a self-
destruct device or something. Of course, Bell innocently answers no, but
 even
more importantly, Robo has a will of her own. As a scientist, Dr. Moro
cannot
conceive of such a thing; her mind is nothing but a simple program. If
she will not
let him disassemble the machine, he would like to talk to its creator.

Just then, Skuld walks into the room, saying that it took her longer tha
n she
expected. K1, Urd, Bell and Robo all point to Skuld in response to Dr.
Moro's
query. Dr. Moro's glaring puts a look of confusion and bewilderment on
her face.
The professor if they mean another person beyond the door. They nod no.

Incredulous, he asks them if they are serious. When they confirm that,
he turns to
Skuld and asks her if she made the android. Skuld simply answers, "Certa
inly.
Isn't she great?"
This is too much for the professor to handle. He can't handle the fact
that
not only has his research been surpassed, but that it has been surpassed
by a
child. The last panel is an outside shot of the temple, where we hear
the professor
hit the ground fainting, and everyone reacting in there own way; some wor
ried,
some non-sympathetic.
