Actually, and very sadly, there are historical instances, and quite possibly
current examples lurking on the world currently where exactly that is just
happening. Use of children and the quite possible and frequently done so of
disposing them when they prove useless was all too common in certain times
and places of human history, and still abides currently although it is not
as common (personally I hope extremely rare, or not at all) and often hidden
from public view.

Anyway,... being 'disposed' of doesn't necessarily mean they were killed and
'gotten rid of' but things like dying of exhaustion, and being thrown out on
the streets with no hope of finding food, shelter and facing starvation and
disease are fairly close to the same thing. While it may not be pretty to
look at, or admit too, there have been times when just such things were
referred to as 'schools' justified as 'training' or providing a 'living' for
children.

Fortunately, in OMG, the reference to being 'eliminated' for failing some
regulation is just a plot device and never actually used.

Besides, if you look at it one way, school is just training for the job you
get later. I've had that debate before in college, that education is just
job training and not a 'true' pursuit of intellect. That went on for months,
and it was never conclusively decided. So, in consideration for the
philosophically dis-inclined, I'll decline to pursue it any farther, and
leave this as my last words on the subject.
