Ooo, challenge da ne!? Okay then you doubt-addicted philostines ;) rather
than going off on one of my (now familier and 100% predictable I'm sure)
spiels on on the wonder of Belldandy, the significance of megami and why
the Earth wasn't given the (optional) meringue coating, I'm going to just
sail my boat of confrontation down the river set out by Henry at the top of
this page, and have a look at the "comparing Bell to Kasumi" bit.

Must someone "lose their mother" in order to "act like Belldandy and
Kasumi" as you seem to be saying? Well firstly, there aren't THAT many
similarites between Belldandy and Kasumi, but the ones that ARE there
Belldandy shares with another famous character from a wonderful series:
GOLDBERRY.

Did the river-daughter lose her mother? No. Now OK, not even I would
attempt something as downright silly as comparing Keiichi to Tom Bombadil
(!) but your basis for Belldandy "acting like Kasumi" could just as easily
be "acting like Goldberry". And I think, in origin, attitude and feel,
Goldberry is a bit closer to Belldandy than Kasumi is, ne?

Can anyone tell that I just started re-reading "The Fellowship Of The
Ring"? (and got a subtly different mental image of what Goldberry looked
like than I did the time before, pre-AMS?)

Sam (knowing that all this will be completely lost on those unfamilier with
the Lord of the Rings or Ranma 1/2)
