Nope, it is still the same CD, just owned by a different person. The 
number of CDs for which to pay royalties does not increase.

Hmm, but the problem with SM CDs is that the number of the CDs *increases*,
i.e. where there was 1 original CD, now there's 1 original CD and a bunch 
of copies, while royalties where paid only for the first original. (SM 
had to buy the original to make copies).

With used CDs though, after transfer there still 1 original CD, for 
which the authors have already received royalties.
