Kodanasha didn't translate the OAV series. They sold the licenses to AnimEigo
and paid them to translate it. AnimEigo started releasing the subs in 1995 I
believe which would've been a year and a half or two years or so after they
were released in Japan (1993 according to the copyright on the box). The dubs
came out in 96.
