I'm afraid that you'll find many people hold the opposite view, myself
included.  I love the anime dearly and Inoue Kikuko's voice is what
prompted me to take 2+ years of Japanese, but when it comes to canon, the
manga takes precedence.  After all, it is the manga, and not the anime,
which is the undisputed pure expression of the author's creative vision.
At times, with certain titles, I may -like- the anime better, but when I
want to search for concrete facts about the characters, timeframe, etc.
the manga is the final arbiter of the truth.
