Often, by avoiding giving a specific location, one can universalize the
story.  For instance, since you don't know exactly where NIT is, it could
be anywhere in Japan.  For Japanese readers, it would make the story more
accessible, since they have no way to prove that NIT is somewhere -else-
and not right in their own backyard, so to speak.
