Before seeing the Baiko-Tamasaburo pair in action I would have been skeptical of any claims of characters who are simultaneously ultra-feminine and ULTRA-bad-ass. ^_^ In fact I've never really bought into that tough-girl persona in it's zillions of permutations -- the tough-girl always breaks down in the end into a softie.
